Accessibility for students

At Languagenut, we believe every student deserves access to great language learning, and we're committed to making our platform as inclusive as possible.

What we currently support

We have a number of features in place to help support students with different learning needs.

Visual accessibility adjustments

Within the Vocab Trainer, the Word Pop activity includes an option to slow or freeze the bubbles (click the snail icon 🐌!) which reduces visual busyness and improves contrast - helpful for students who find moving elements distracting or difficult to track.

In Exam Skills, both Reading Multiple Choice and Open Reading Comprehension allow students to increase the font size and change the background colour, making text easier to read for students who benefit from higher contrast or reduced visual stress.

Additionally, students using a laptop touchpad are able to pinch-to-zoom within activities, which can help magnify content on screen. Please note that zooming via the browser itself does not work as intended, so the touchpad method is the recommended approach for now.

Listening activities

For students who find reading challenging, Languagenut includes a wide range of listening-based activities across the platform. These provide an alternative way to engage with vocabulary and language content without relying solely on reading.

Printable worksheets

For students who don't have access to a device, or who work better away from a screen, many activities have printable versions available. These can be downloaded and used as offline alternatives, ensuring students can still participate in learning alongside their classmates.

What we're working on

We know there is more to do, and improving accessibility is a key priority for us in 2026.

Our planned accessibility project aims to bring font size adjustment and contrast improvement options to every activity on the platform - so that no student is limited by which section they're in.
