Key Features in 3-minutes (Secondary)

In this quick introduction, I’ll show you where to find the key tools and features that will support your language teaching from day one.

1. Finding your resources

Once you’ve logged in, head straight to your Resources section, by selecting the product and then the language that you have subscribed to. This is where you’ll find everything from vocabulary and grammar content to reading, listening, speaking and writing Exam Skill activities, ready to be assigned or presented front of class.

2. GCSE Exam Board vocab & Quick Assign

If you teach GCSE, open the Vocab Trainer resource to access vocabulary aligned to AQA, Edexcel, and WJEC. You’ll see two options:

  • Exam Board Lists – shown in the exact order provided by the exam boards.
  • Topic-Based Lists – the same vocabulary, reorganised by our content team into clear themes, making it easier to find specific topics.

3. Quick Assign

Wherever you are in the platform, GCSE vocab, grammar, phonics, or verbs, you’ll spot the Quick Assign button.

This lets you instantly set the activity to any class, without needing to build a full assignment.

4. Accessing the Admin area

At any time, you can access the Admin Area via the shortcut at the top of your dashboard.

5. Uploading classes

Under Classes, you can upload your class lists. Student logins are generated automatically, so there’s nothing for you to create manually.

Inside each class, you’ll find your High Scores, Heat Map and the Gradebook, allowing you to track progress and engagement at a glance.

6. Uploading Teacher accounts

In the Teachers tab, you can upload all your teachers. Again, logins are auto-generated for you.

7. Creating assignments

To build new assignments, go to the Assignments & Gradebook section. This is where you can put together tailored tasks for your classes when you want something more structured than Quick Assign. Select ‘Show all’ to view assignments created by your colleagues.

8. Gradebook: both views

You can access the Gradebook from within each class or view a whole-school Gradebook from the Admin area for a broader overview of progress across year groups.

9. Competitions & Live Matches

In Competitions, you can create school-wide challenges by choosing your time frame.

You can also run Languagenut Live Matches—short, five-minute vocabulary battles ideal for energising your classes.

10. Uploading Custom Content

To personalise learning, go to Custom Content. Here you can:

  • Upload your own vocabulary lists or sentences using AI support.
  • Create exam-style writing and speaking activities, including open questions and photo descriptions.

You can also explore the Content Library to browse materials uploaded by other schools. Verified content means it has been created and checked by Languagenut.

11. Scheme of Work Builder

To align Languagenut with your curriculum, use the Scheme of Work Builder to add your own Scheme of Work to the platform.

12. Help Centre & AI Answers Tool

If you ever need support, you can access our Help Centre directly from your menu, this includes video guides and step-by-step articles.

You’ll also find our AI Answers tool, available 24/7 for quick questions about using the platform.
