PGC: Ofsted's Intent, Implementation, and Impact Statement
The Ofsted framework emphasises the centrality of the curriculum to its quality of education judgements. There are three dimensions that are intertwined: intent, implementation and impact.
‘Inspectors will consider the extent to which the school’s curriculum sets out the knowledge and skills that pupils will gain at each stage (we call this ‘intent’). They will also consider the way that the curriculum developed or adopted by the school is taught and assessed in order to support pupils to build their knowledge and to apply that knowledge as skills (we call this ‘implementation’). Finally, inspectors will consider the outcomes that pupils achieve as a result of the education they have received (we call this the ‘impact’).’
Ofsted 2021 Paragraph 195
Below are the intent, implementation and impact statements in the Ofsted document and how we at Languagenut can support you and your school with this.

How Languagenut can support Primary Schools… |
1a) There is a clear and coherent rationale for the curriculum design. |
Our interactive, detailed primary scheme of learning includes differentiated lesson plans and resources including phonics, high frequency vocab and grammar. Learning is carefully planned to aid progress for the vast majority of KS2 learners and aims to avoid introducing too much language at once. |
1b) Rationale and aims of the curriculum design are shared across the school and fully understood by all. |
The Lanugagenut Primary Guided Course is a fully resourced and research-led scheme of work, designed by teachers and language experts, which can be easily used by non-specialists teaching a language. We offer a choice of French and Spanish, each providing you with a structured approach to support the delivery of languages in your primary setting. Our scheme covers 4 years (from years 3 to 6) and fully covers the National Curriculum Programme of Study at KS2. |
1c) Curriculum leaders show understanding of important concepts related to curriculum design, such as knowledge progression and sequencing of concepts.
|
Our guided course will help your pupils recycle and retrieve past knowledge, vocabulary and concepts by using our games which practise all 4 key skills/modalities and support pupils to commit them to memory. Our 4-year course:
|
1d) Curriculum coverage allows all pupils to access the content and make progress through the curriculum.
|
Our detailed series of differentiated lesson plans and resources enable full coverage of the KS2 National Curriculum. The teacher can assign different tasks to individuals or groups within a class or cohort, depending upon how much support and challenge are needed. |
2a) The curriculum is at least as ambitious as the standards set by the national curriculum/external qualifications. |
Our scheme of work covers a wide range of topics and grammar suitable for any primary setting. This then lays the foundations for further language teaching at KS3. Pupils can develop their vocabulary across all 4 skills/modalities and use our phonics area to develop their phonological awareness and pronunciation. |

Our diagnostics tool in the teacher admin area allows the teacher to identify and address any gaps in pupil’s learning. |
5c Curriculum delivery is equitable for all groups and appropriate. |
Our differentiated lesson plans provide extension and support ideas to allow every pupil to have equal access to the curriculum. Assignments can be set to individuals or groups depending upon how much scaffolding and challenge they need. |
5d) Leaders ensure that interventions are appropriately delivered to enhance pupils’ capacity to access the full curriculum. |
Activities in the Languagenut Primary Guided Course provide instant feedback by marking all activities completed by pupils, thus providing the teacher with immediate information about the progress of every individual. This information can then be used to deliver any interventions your pupils might need to ensure they make progress. |

Our scheme can be used from years 3 to 6, it covers the National Curriculum in all 4 skills/modalities, improves pupils’ grammar and improves pronunciation. |

The ‘Learn-Practice-Quiz’ functionality pupils to revisit vocabulary and structures as many times as necessary before they move to the next step. Individual assessments can be set according to need and are all marked automatically so pupils get instant feedback. Scores are recorded and kept in a central area easily accessible to the teacher and SLT. The tracking system allows you to check which pupils have completed the learning and track their progress as well as analyse which topics and skills your pupils need to practise more. |
7b) Assessments are reliable. Teachers ensure systems to check reliability of assessments in subjects are fully understood by staff. |
Our ‘Quiz’ functionality allows teachers to assess pupils across all 4 skills/modalities. All activities are marked automatically and voice recognition software marks your pupils’ speaking recordings. |
